About a Natural approach
Our local Sussex county is rich in garden history and activity, with the beautiful seasonal splendour of the landscapes of Sheffield Park to the pioneering wild garden of William Robinson at Gravetye Manor. We have the on going research work and seed saving bank in the Botanical garden at Wakehurst, and the wonderful plant paintings from Sussex born Victorian artist Marianne North.
Our county is rich and diverse in its natural landscape features, in its plants and wildlife,
and in its gardeners.
Due to the various influences of this time, however, many natural habitats have been destroyed, and different species face extinction.
A natural approach to gardening seems more needed than ever, to bring natural ecosystems back into healthy, colourful balance.
Together, I hope we can find a more natural way of gardening,
that allows both nature and people to flourish.
